New court website to help families

28th September 2016

Edinburgh Sheriff Court has launched a dedicated website aimed at helping professionals and families involved in cases relating to Adults with Incapacity.

Such cases involve applications by solicitors on behalf of family members, or sometimes the local authority, to become guardians to look after the welfare or finances of adults who do not have the mental capacity to make decisions.

The website provides advice on legislation, regulation, and other useful links, as well as details of specific matters Sheriffs expect to be addressed in any Application submitted to the Edinburgh Sheriff Court.  There are also details of the Court’s AWI User Group who meet bi-annually with the Sheriffs to discuss court practice and development in this area of law.
