Ken Lauder

Partner

Ken is a Partner in the firm’s Litigation Department. He qualified as a Solicitor in 1989 and has worked exclusively in the field of litigation since 1991. His past experience includes dealing with many aspects of court work but he now works mainly in personal injury law and medical negligence law. Ken trained in Glasgow and Edinburgh and then worked in Kirkcaldy before joining Morisons in 1996.

He has extensive experience of personal injury claims with a practice which routinely involves workplace accident compensation claims and car injury compensation cases. His role as a personal injury lawyer has seen him act for both pursuers and defenders for many years.

Ken has a particular interest in clinical negligence and is a member of AvMA - Action Against Medical Accidents. Within that field his special interest is in birth injury and cerebral palsy cases and he was instructed by the pursuer in Pauline McKenzie v Fife Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, in which one of the largest awards of medical negligence compensation ever made in Scotland was negotiated in 2008.

Pauline McKenzie has spoken about the difference an award of compensation can make. You can read an article about Pauline and her son Kyle here from the Daily Mail.

In addition to acting direct for clients Ken works with other solicitors from throughout Scotland as an Edinburgh agent in actions in the Court of Session. He also assists other solicitors in a consultancy role or simply by dealing with referrals direct.

Ken's wider roles within the firm have included supervising development of case management systems and assisting with the introduction of a quality management system.

Ken is also a qualified Solicitor Advocate.
