A graduate of Glasgow University, Karen qualified as a solicitor in 1992. She has extensive experience of appearing in courts throughout central Scotland. In 2005 she joined Maxwell MacLaurin in order to specialise in family law, and she was accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in family law in 2007. The same year, she was appointed as Associate in the firm; and she was appointed Senior Associate in 2009.
Karen has wide experience of all aspects of family law including divorce, child issues and disputes between cohabitants. She is regularly appointed as Reporter and curator ad litem in child cases; and she is a tutor on the postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice Family Law course at Glasgow University. Karen is also trained in Collaborative Law Procedure allowing couples to resolve disputes arising from the breakdown of relationships without resorting to litigation.
As well as being a member of the Family Law Association, the Glasgow Bar Association, the Scottish Collaborative Family Law Group, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and Scottish Women In Business, Karen undertakes voluntary weekend work at a child contact centre in Glasgow city centre.
