Alistair began his career as a Litigation Solicitor, before concentrating on employment law.
Having graduated in 1970 he served his apprenticeship with Messrs Tilston Maclaurin and qualified as a Solicitor in 1972. He remained with the firm as an Assistant and was assumed as a Partner in 1974. He has been a partner with Morisons since their merger with Maxwell Maclaurin in 2010.
Alistair gained accreditation by the Law Society of Scotland as a Specialist in Employment Law in 1992. Over the years Alistair has conducted Employment Tribunals throughout the UK, representing both employers and employees in proceedings before Tribunals. He also advises in relation to the formation of Service Agreements and the implications of such Agreements at termination particularly with regard to Covenants.
In addition Alistair has dealt with all types of general litigation
He has been described by his peers as an “experienced and resourceful street fighter”. One can merely hope that this is a comment on his tenacity in cross-examination.
Alistair is also Chairman of the Scottish Solicitors’ Discipline Tribunal.
Within the firm Alistair is the Staff Partner.
