Alison is an associate in the firm’s Family Law team. After graduating from Strathclyde University in 1996 Alison worked in the field of general civil litigation, dealing with all aspects of civil court work, until she joined Maxwell MacLaurin’s family team in 2003. Since that time she has worked exclusively in the areas of family and child law.
Alison has extensive experience of all aspects of divorce work, contact and residence disputes and child law issues. She has a particular interest in International Child Abduction and has been instructed in a number of these cases by the Scottish Government. She also enjoys dealing with the area of surrogacy.
As well as having extensive experience in litigation Alison is also trained in Collaborative Law which is a type of negotiation process which offers couples an opportunity to work together in a positive way to resolve the disputes arising from the breakdown of their marriage.
Alison is a member of the Family Law Association, the Scottish Collaborative Family Law Group, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, and has close affiliations with COTS and Reunite.
Alison has been accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in both Family Law and Child Law.
Alison has recently been appointed as a tutor in Family Law on the Diploma course at Glasgow University.
