Scotland’s manufacturing sector

1st December 2016

Scotland’s manufacturing sector is changing.  The challenges and opportunities regularly emerging were outlined at the recent Investing in Emerging Technologies event hosted by Campbell Dallas and The Royal Bank of Scotland plc. The Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service, a branch of Scottish Enterprise, outlined the ways in which Scotland’s productivity has faltered in recent years in comparison to other countries and the need for a renewed focus throughout the sector on investing in the future by embracing technology to increase productivity.

Two businesses presented their experiences and shared their business growth stories having invested in technology and innovation which has resulted in increased productivity and efficiencies. The message of the evening was summed up a quote by Henry Ford: “If you need a machine and don’t buy it, then you will ultimately find that you have paid for it and don’t have it.”

The Morisons Business Team works regularly with businesses in the manufacturing sector across Scotland.  Our team can advise on areas such as raising finance or investment; negotiation of commercial contracts; real estate and protection and exploitation of intellectual property.
