Morisons get to the heart of the matter
Morisons has provided a boost to Scotland’s Health Charity Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) by presenting a £4,642.85 donation.
CHSS improves the quality of life for people in Scotland affected by chest, heart and stroke illness, through medical research, influencing public policy, advice and information and support in the community.
The money which was raised in a number of ways including Dress Down Days and Bake Sales will be used to fund the charity’s campaigns, research and services.
Gillian Brown, Partner, Morisons said, “We’ve been fortunate to learn first-hand about the implications of heart disease when our staff underwent voluntary health checks and a few people discovered potential issues with blood pressure. Many families are affected by these terrible diseases at some time and we are delighted to have contributed towards their much needed fundraising to help further research and awareness campaigns.”
George Grierson, Corporate Development Manager, CHSS, added, “We are thrilled to be receiving this donation from Morisons. We are very grateful to everyone for all their efforts in raising so much. All money raised for CHSS stays in Scotland, providing much needed services for people living with the effects of chest, heart and stroke illness.”
It is estimated that in Scotland someone will have a heart attack every 55 minutes, a stroke every 45 minutes and every minute of every day 100,000 people struggle to breathe as a result of chronic chest illness.
