Food for thought

Morisons’ Food & Drink team was instrumental in the extensive research undertaken into Scotland Food & Drink strategy, ‘Ambition 2030’, which was recently launched in partnership with First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon.

A series of key events, sponsored by the firm, were held throughout 2016 the length and breadth of Scotland to assess and value the views of the industry before embarking on the strategy which will shape the sector priorities for the coming years.

The strategy aims to double the value of Scotland’s farming, fishing, food and drink industry to £30billion. At the launch a £10m package of support was pledged and the First Minister outlined the Scottish Government’s drive to continue to support business and exports.

Commenting on the launch Peter Duff, Managing Partner, said, “This is a clear and comprehensive strategy that is both ambitious but achievable and there is plenty going on to help businesses grow.

“It was interesting listening to the debate across Scotland and no matter the location broadly the same issues were being voiced. Both Scotland Food & Drink and the Scottish Government have listened and, despite the global uncertainty, the outlook is positive for our food and drink market.”
